I was disappointed to read the news of the Hanmer Springs Heritage Hotel closing permanently.
The hotel dates back to 1897 when it was an 18-room wooden lodge. It was converted into a hospital for soldiers returning from World War I. The existing Spanish-style building was built in 1932.
I performed here in 2018 at an event for the Ferrari Owner’s Club of New Zealand. I am always grateful for the special you places I get to go with this career and of course the people I get to meet, and sometimes the cars I get to drive - even if for just a few minutes!
